Parking Reminders for Upcoming Solar Eclipse

For the first time since 1806, Toledo, Ohio is in the direct path of a total solar eclipse.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, The University of Toledo campus has a unique opportunity to host the public for a total solar eclipse viewing event.

As excitement builds for the upcoming total solar eclipse, it’s essential for ParkUToledo permit holders to prepare for potential parking challenges arising from the expected surge of spectators heading to campus.

Please remember, all vehicles must be parked in a lined space (vehicles not parked in a lined space may be cited). While parking permits will not be enforced on Monday, April 8, 2024, reserved, disabled, metered, patient and no overnight parking spaces/areas are enforced 24/7. Regular parking enforcement resumes at 7am on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Please give yourself extra time to get to class, as parking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Heavier traffic and limited parking availability are expected on the north side of campus due to the viewing event at the Glass Bowl and Centennial Mall (scheduled from 12pm-4:30pm).

To avoid the eclipse crowd, try parking in Areas 18 (East of the Rec Center) and 25 (Surrounding Rocket Hall). If possible, coordinate with roommates, friends and family to carpool to campus on Monday, April 8, 2024.

ParkUToledo looks forward to celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse event with the UToledo community!
